YouTube for South Asian enertainment

Bodvod, the company which aggregates South Asian video entertainment content for the Cox and Time Warner cable networks in the U.S. has expanded its presence with the creation of Saavn, a video sharing site featuring Bollywood movie clips and music videos.

So far the site is little more than an online upsell to its cable VOD offer, so it’ll be interesting to track its progress in becoming a destination in its own right. For now, the offer feels pretty thin and symptomatic of many of these new emerging offers: a strong multi-platform distribution strategy (the company also has deals with iTunes and Amazon), but an under-developed content proposition.
